Vista DSSTM

Vista DSSTM is a turn-key proprietary software that uses advanced optimization and simulation capabilities to forecast, plan, schedule and dispatch energy in the most optimal way.

Vista DSSTM is a comprehensive decision-support system that:

  • Improves water-resource management, within the boundaries of multiple constraints
  • Facilitates more effective management of operational data
  • Determines optimum scenarios for long-term contracts, as well as spot market transactions
  • Manages flood and drought risks
  • Helps develop rehabilitation strategies for new or existing units, plants and reservoirs
  • Demonstrates environmental compliance and accelerates re-licensing
  • Performs simulations of a system's operations

The cornerstone of the Vista DSSTM procedure is the continuous determination of optimum operational actions on a recursive basis. This is in essence a dynamic operational policy, responding to changing conditions, as opposed to a static operating policy, which could not respond fully and immediately to changes.

Benefits

One of the main benefits that Vista DSSTM delivers to hydro plant owners is a 2–5% increase in energy production and 3–10% increase in revenue through reservoir and plant-operation optimization.

In addition to increases in production and revenue, Vista DSSTM will:

  • Ease the automation of working processes
  • Improve safety and minimize the risk of costly flood-damage repairs
  • Enhance return on new capital investment
  • Deal effectively with environmental issues and improve public relations
  • Reduce operational & business risks

Featured Project
Real-Time Hydro Advisory Tool (HAT) for Mighty River Power
Mighty River Power retained Hatch to implement RT Vista, the real-time dispatch module of the Vista DSSTM decision support system to meet the needs of its hydro-advisory tool project. Vista DSSTM will be implemented on six workstations at the Hamilton, New Zealand office of MRP. More >
